Hello Friends!

I hope your Memorial Day weekend will bring you rest, relaxation and sunshine!!

I had a very lucky week .... I made the Fab 4 over at The Play Date Cafe! I was so excited and honored to be among the top 5 out of 111 fabulous creations. To see all the wonderful entries go here.  I was also  featured on the Create Blog last week for the Denim Challenge. You can see all the great cards here.
These challenges are so fun and have been keeping me inspired. If you aren't participating you should be!

I realized the other day that I had not posted the rest of  the layouts from the calendar I made for my new Niece. So here they are.

I wish you all a very happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend!!

Another Challenge Card

The new Play Date Cafe challenge is a Splash of Color. I thought this would also give me the opportunity to make an ATC for the Hero Arts Challenge.

The challenge is to use only Black and White with a splash of color, this time Green. I had some scraps of Glossy Cardstock in the perfect size so I thought I would break out my alcohol inks and just play.

Here's what I came up with. I used Citrus and Meadow Alcohol inks and then stamped over it with black Staz-On, using the Dandelion Frame Cling stamp (CG153) from Hero Arts.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you're playing along with all these fun challenges.

I'm Back

with another post but no ATC's LOL! I had been thinking about this other challenge I had seen over at the CREATE Blog and it just wasn't coming together.  Originally I wanted to stamp on Denim with Bleach but it just wasn't working for me and I had decided not to enter. Then while I was cooking dinner this Clean & Simple little card came into my head.

It was so much fun die cutting my old jeans with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die. I also die cut the flowers out of chipboard and adhered the jean material on top so that I could bend it and create a little more dimension.....I only wish I still had daylight to take the photo in.

Thanks so much for stopping back in. I appreciate each and every comment.

CAS-ual Fridays

This week over at CAS-ual Fridays it's all about Bling.

CFC03 - Project Gallery

And all month long over at Hero Art's it's been a challenge on "Flowers, ATC's and Colored Pencils".

So here is my card using a little bit of Bling with my rhinestones and stickles, and a fabulous flower that I colored with my Prisma Colored Pencils. I have to say I have had these colored pencils for some time but have not really used them. In fact I think this is the first project I have completed using them. I didn't really like them at first but with all the inspiration over at the Hero Blog and the great discussion on the HA Flicker group I thought I would give them another chance. Once I learned about the colorless blending pencil, which I went out and bought last week I feel it went much smoother, ha ha.

Hero Arts Stamp: CL495

Now I'm off to see how quickly I can whip up an ATC before I start dinner. If it goes well I will be back with the results.

Hello Bloggers

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We finally finished painting our living room and getting it all put together. Whew! Now on to the hall, and then the laundry room, oh and my husbands "man cave", lol. He decided since I have my Scrap Room he was going to claim a room for himself, Ha!

This week's Play Date Cafe Challenge #82 really inspired me to create something a little more shabby chic. Not a style I usually go to first but these colors really just lent themselves to that style and it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the challenge.

Usually when I begin working on a card I have an idea in my head and it NEVER turns out the way! I usually find my self wandering down different paths as I create or it's days before I finally sit down to work and I feel differently. But this time it really did come close.

I used my Silhouette to cut the doily out of cream cardstock. I then inked it up a bit with Antique Linen Distress ink and a little Brushed Corduroy. I also gave it a little spritz of Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist. Next I created the butterfly, also on the Silhouette. It's one of their print and cuts. This was also done in the cream cardstock and I colored it using Sea Glass Glimmer Mist. The script patterned paper is from Webster's Pages, and the light blue bottom paper is from Fancy Pants designs. The ribbon was also cream and I colored it with my Copic Markers, E50 (egg shell..I think). The flowers were cut out of the Tattered Florals die by Tim Holtz and a few pearls from Kaiser Craft which I colored using Copic Y21, Buttercup Yellow.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts CL497. I really enjoyed working on this card, I hope you enjoy it too!

On a more personal note I went to my nephew's last baseball game yesterday...one of the benefits of being back here in So. Cal. I had such a great time taking pictures and thought I would share one here.

I love the sheer determination on his face!

Thanks for stopping by...TTFN!

Wee Memories Challenge

Today I have a card I created for the current challenge going on over at Wee Memories. The challenge...to use stickers, or rub-on's, anything that sticks. At first I thought gee I haven't used stickers in forever! But I really had fun creating this card which took all of about 10 minutes total!

I started off by inking up a piece of scrap paper with distress inks. Next I applied the Butterfly Rub-On (Kaiser Craft).  It's been in my stash for several years! I cut a wave into the rest of the scrap piece I started with and applied the "Make a wish" sticker (SRM). One note to make is you will want to heat set your distress ink before you apply the sticker or rub-on. Remember Distress Inks stay wet a little longer. I added some black dots with a pen and glued the butterfly onto my card.

This was a really fun card to make, so if you have a stash of stickers you haven't used in a while break'em out and get busy!

Thanks for stopping by...Have a great weekend!

CAS-ual Fridays

This week the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to use buttons and twine...

and can you believe I couldn't find any buttons! I really do need to finish un-packing! So after days of trying to find where the buttons could be I decided to make my own button. I started off cutting several circles from a light weight chipboard. I glued them together and then topped it off with some patterned paper. Next I simply punched a couple of holes in the "button" using my crop-a-dile. (gotta love that tool).
I also didn't have any twine :-(  so I used my Bazzill floss for the stem. I have been wanting some twine for quite a while so I decided to order some last night, and can you believe today I noticed that The Twinery was giving a 15% discount to all CAS-ual Friday participants!! I can't believe I missed that! Oh well I'm still excited to get my order :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope your having a great week.

PDC81

Here is this weeks color challenge over at the Play Date Cafe.  http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/

I have to say this color pallet was a bit of a challenge for me, one of the reasons I'm submitting here at the last minute.  First off I didn't have anything in a light grey...lol. But once I got started I came up with 2 cards.

I decided on the first one for my submission. I used the Tim Holtz embossing folder to create the background. I then went over it with Pumice Stone distress ink to get as close to a grey background as I could. I used the smooch illuminate over the butterfly image on the pattern paper to help bring it out. Unfortunaly you can't see the glimmery goodness in the photo.
For this card I used a Hero Art's Cling stamp, CG248, stamped in Citrus Adirondak ink. The butterfly (CL115) and sentiment are also from Hero Arts.

Thanks so much for stopping by! And Thanks for the sweet comments, I do so appreciate them.

How To

First off I wanted to say Thanks to Dana for the sweet comment! You really put a smile on may face and I appreciate you and your friendship!

This month on the Hero Art's Blog the contest is Flower's, Colored Pencils and ATC's.  I was inspired to create this card to enter. I thought I would share a little "how to" on the little drop shadow I tried to create.

I started off by stamping 3 flowers onto Copic X-press cardstock using Pumice stone Distress Ink. (It was the only greyish ink I had). Next I colored in the edges of the flowers stamped in Pumice with Copic C3.

I stamped and additional 3 flowers using Memento Tuxedo Black.  I colored 2 using YR07 & YR09,  and one using R14 & R27. After I cut these flowers out I used Pop Dot's to adhere them over the grey flower, slightly offsetting them creating a drop shadow.

Since I didn't have cardstock that matched the flowers just the way I wanted I cut squares a little bigger and used the chiseled tip to color the edge.

I was happy with the way it turned out and I hope you will give it a try. I'm sure there are other ways to create this effect but this is what worked for me. And for those of you who don't use Copic's I'm sure you could get this same effect using colored pencil's or painting in the flowers with your distress inks.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you are having a great weekend. As for me I'm painting the living room and taking a break in the afternoon to watch my nephew's baseball game. He's 5 and I can't wait to see these little cuties out there.

Happy Friday!!!

Wow it's been a quick week here for me. I've been so busy painting and still getting the yucky errands done. Like the DMV, smog check, driver's license. I had to take the written test here and it's been 20 years since I had to do that! I passed :-).

I've been finding little bits and pieces of time to get some card making in so, here is a quick card I made this week. I even found the post office and sent this one and one from my last post to a couple of friends.

Getting cards sent is one of my new goals :-) I need to send them, not just make them, lol.

Today is my Sister's birthday so here is a fun little card I made for her. Not a great photo from my Cell phone.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I have a little "how to" card to post here and at Scrapbook Paradise so I hope I find time to get to it this weekend. If not I will do it Monday. Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs.

A New Challenge Blog

Hi Everyone,

Last night I came across a new challenge blog. So, I thought this would be a great way to get back into the groove! It's called CAS-ual Fridys. The CAS stands for Clean and Simple. This is their very first Challenge and you still have time to get in on the fun. Here is a link to their page with all the details http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com/.  You have till Wednesday Night to enter the first challenge and then each week they will post a new challenge on each Friday. You should join the fun!

So here is my card.....

I just recieved a box of the new Tim Holtz glazed Kraft paper and just had to try it! I have been itchin' to get inkey, lol. I used the Distress Stains for the color which made it so quick and easy. (Wild Honey, Broken China, Peeled Paint, and Spun sugar).
Also if any of you have been having trouble using the Rosette Die try running a piece of scotch tape down the backside of your strip before you cut. For me this was the perfect solution to keep it from cutting apart.

Here's another card I did. It was hard to choose which one to use for the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and taken a peek!

Hello Friends!

Can you believe it's May!!! It always seems to sneak up on me. Yesterday was my Birthday. I had such a wonderful day. Jim and I started the day off at Duke's in Malibu for Sunday Brunch. We had a table on the water and a view of Catalina. It was such a beautiful, clear day. We ended the afternoon with a drive up the coast and a walk along the beach.

Later we had a BBQ with the girls and Tashia. So nice to have her so close again.

I'm so excited to say that I've finally had some time to start working on the calendar for my new niece, who is due any day now.  So I have a few photos here of my scrap room and of  the first 2 pages of the calendar.

I love my frame with all the kind words!!!

As you can see I still have boxes to un-pack and organizing to do but...I'm getting there.

And here are the first 2 pages of the calendar. I'm using the Chloe line from 3 Bugs. It is so cute and I just love it.
I hope once this is done I can get working on some Cards!

I used cotton candy stickles on her name, I wish you could see the sparkle in the photo.

I cut the dragonfly border on the silhouette in white. Then I used the spun sugar distress stain to color it. I love how easy it was to get color on a die cut. I then used some pearl glimmer mist to give it a little shine.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you are all well and creating! Missing you all tons!
