Creating w/ my Silhouette Part 2

Well here is another project I've been wanting to do for some time. I had been eyeing all the fun knobs at Hobby Lobby and needed some place to organize my necklaces. So this is what I came up with. Super simple too.

I used "Folk Art" Home Decor Chalk Paint. I first applied the color "Sheep skin" and once that was good and dry I applied my vinyl shape, " Bracket Swirly".  Next I applied the "Cascade/teal" color of chalk paint and when it was tacky I used a cloth to rub some of the paint off so the "white/sheep skin" would show through. Once it was pretty much dry I peeled the vinyl off. Hope this will inspire you to create something too and share it with the rest of us!!

Getting crafty w/ my silhouette Part 1

Hey there,

I know I don't have much activity on my blog these days, but I'm hoping to change all that!!
Here is a banner I made for a friends daughter's graduation. It was such a cute idea and so simple. Just a few embroidery hoops, letters cut on the silhouette "font SNF Dear Miss Rose" and some tule.

This banner has 14, 10' hoops. We strung it between the patio awning.
This would also be fun as a monogram on a gallery wall, or at the holidays with "Joy" or "Peace" over the mantel.

We also created some fun center pieces. Using a scalloped circle cut on the silhouette and punched out photos.

I would love to hear any other ideas you might have for these fun embroidery hoops!!

Hope you have a blessed week!!
Hugs!!!

It's been a loooong time

Well it's been a super long time since I've posted anything here. But I have been getting my craft on again so I thought I would see if my blog was still here.  Looks like it is so I'm giving it a go. Let's see if I can remember how to do this.  It's my hope to get things posted here more for a place to share with friends and to keep for myself. But also to possibly join some fun crafty challenges again. I have missed this creative escape.

These are 2 pieces I just did for a wall I'm working on in my daughter's room. The first is a small black canvas that I put buttons on in the shape of a heart. I used my silhouette to create a template.

The second is a frame my friends husband made me out of pallet wood. The backing is spray painted  black.  I used white vinyl for the words from one of my favorite song's "oceans".  The first time I used this frame was for The nativity also shown. It was cut out of card stock that I tacked down to make a temporary holiday decor piece. All items are cut from my Silhouette Cameo.

If your here again.....thanks for looking!!
I hope to post more and visit more in the coming days and weeks a head.

Hero Arts Challenge

This month's challenge over on the Hero Arts Flicker group is "Creatures and Kids Cards" and the technique is "making a scene". These are 2 things I rarely do. So here is the card I labored over for the better part of a day, lol!

The timing was perfect as my nephew's Birthday is coming up next month.

So here's what I did. First off I'm on a bit of a tight budget so I found this darling Hero Art's Monster Digi over at 2Peas for only $6. I uploaded it to my Silhouette and converted it into a print & cut. (I know I'm doing that alot lately). Next I used my Photo Shop Elements to place the words and also uploaded that to my Silhouette. I laid it all out on the screen before I cut anything. Once I had it sized the way I wanted I broke the pieces out and used the print & cut function to cut the monsters, the party hats and the balloons. I stamped the cloud background (HA S5215) using distress ink, tumbled glass. Then I ran it through my printer to print the sentiment on the top. I ran a piece of patterned paper through my printer for the bottom half of the sentiment. I used Copic's to color the monsters, balloons, and party hats. On the teal hat I stamped the Magical (HA CG211) background in white. I used embroidery floss to tie off the balloons, that was the final straw, oh I mean step, hahahaha. I used pop dot's for the Red monster (my nephew's favorite color) and for the balloons. Whew! I can't believe I did it. Thanks Hero Arts for stretching me ....Fun challenge.

This weeks CAS-ual Friday

Challenge:

For this Clean and Simple card I used Hero Arts CG311, Small Sweet Petals and a Hero Arts, Silhouette Digital image, tall_vases_C01015_23067.
I stamped and embossed the flowers in white on clear vellum. I colored the back to each flower using Distress Stains, Broken China and Spun Sugar. For the vase I converted the image to a print and cut and then used my Copic's to color it in and then added some black and white enamel accents. This one is off in the mail today for my Mother-in-Law's Birthday.

Summer Card Camp Week 2

It's the second week of Summer Card Camp and it is so much fun. I love having an email each morning to inspire me! But once again it's been a very busy week. In fact this is the only card I have done for this weeks camp colors, which are so yummy!!!!!

And here is my card

The first thing I thought of when I saw the colors was fruit. So I decided I was going to some how use fruit on my card. I'm such a flower person and I really wanted to do something different. The watermelon & sentiment are from Hero, I colored the watermelon with Copic. The lime is a Silhouette design that I printed out and then cut and colored with my copic's. The orange is a Silhouette print & cut. I also used the Hero Arts Graph stamp for the light orange strip and the patterned paper at the bottom is from a Basic Grey "Sweet Threads" 6x6 pad.

I hope your enjoying the warm summer days and eating some of the yummy fruits that come along with it :-)

Hello Friends!

Wow what a week. I wish I knew where the time goes. Here is a card I did for the Create Blog challenge. I havn't pulled out my quickutz in a while. It was fun to create this little card using them.

I used the silhouette to cut the waves and covered them with Distress Stain (Broken China). I just love how quick and easy it is to color a die cut image with the stains. The rest of the card was created using scraps. Another thing I love to do...use up my scraps.

Tomorrow I will be back with another graduation card I'm finishing up. Hope you had a great weekend!
