It's a Monday!

Well today I was hoping to have a relaxing day off but no such luck. Trying to take care of all this house buying business, especially in another state is quite exhausting.

The good new is my husband will be back in town tomorrow, just for the night but we will get to have dinner together. It's been about a month since I've seen him so I'm really looking forward to a dinner together! Later in the week I will be heading to L.A. for a few days, hopefully to get things closed on a new house, and for my niece's baby shower. I can't believe I will be moving permanently in just 2 weeks.

Since I'm sort of living out of a suit case right now, I was excited to find some pre-stamped images in my box of scraps. And of course I have my inks and copics with me so I put together this fun little birthday card for a Hero Art's challenge.

I used copics to color the stamped hydrangea image and I also colored my white ribbon with my copics. I was trying to match it to the color in the flowers but it came out a bit more pale. I then used Antique Linen distress ink to color the back ground image on the die cut and the card base. I stamped the Envelope pattern in Brushed Corduroy and the sentiment in Dusty Concord. I also used a silver glitter pen on the flower center's along with some glossy accents to try to bring them out more.

I hope you all have a fabulous week, Thanks for stoping by!

A bitter sweet day

Wow what a day! It was sort of bitter sweet. Today we announced the new owner of our store, Scrapbook Paradise. We are pleased to announce that Laura Evasovic will be taking over officially on April 1st....and no it's not an April fools joke, lol.

Laura has been an incredible employee of ours for the past 2 years and we are so happy she decided to step up and keep the store going. It was wonderful to see how happy everyone was when we announced. We celebrated with a toast and a make n take. I know she will do a great job, I'm very happy for her while feeling a bit sad that I won't be here to be a part of it. I wish Laura and Scrapbook Paradise much success!!

Congrats Laura!!!!

Yeah!!! I have a day off!

Oh my what a week! So grateful for a day off today. It has been one of those weeks and yesterday I had just had it!  After work I headed back to Katie & Geoff's for the next couple of nights and they had invited me to a party at a neighbors but I just didn't have it in me. So instead I made myself a plate of cheese and crackers, grapes, almonds ect. a nice BIG glass of wine, a good book and sank myself into their enormous bath tub!!! Like I said it's nice to have great friends with great guest rooms! I woke up today with a whole new attitude and was so grateful.  I should have taken the picture last night with the wine and cheese tray but I wasn't even thinking about blogging at the time.

Yesterday also marked the 7th year since by brother Keith passed away. I really miss him! Here is a picture from about 9 years ago with my daughter Sarah. I was so grateful I had a few pictures of him on my laptop.

Well the rest of my day will be spent catching up on all the wonderful goodness in the Hero Art's Flicker group, stamping or inking something and enjoying a relaxing weekend.

Here is a card I made ages ago. Since I'm having such a hard time feeling creative I thought I would share something from the archives. This was created using alcohol inks. I die cut two leaves from glossy cardstock and also the sentiment panel. Then I stamped the saying over the alcohol ink with stazon ink.

Thanks for stopping by, Hugs!

My First Post

Well here it is....my first post. I book marked this blog name a while ago. I knew one day I would break down and do this whole blog thing. I did resist quite a bit in the beginning but I have been blogging since last July over on my store blog...  http://scrapbookparadisereno.blogspot.com/ . I can't say I've been great at it but at least I have a little experience.

I decided, with a little prompting from friends to get this one started for one main reason. We are selling the store!!! Yes after 6 wonderful years we are turning the reins over to ***** ********. We could not be more pleased with who will be taking over! I wish I could tell you officially but you will have to wait just a couple more weeks. We are in escrow and things are moving along very well. I promise the minute I can announce the new owner I will!

As for me and my family we are all spread out. I'm still here in Reno, however our house sold and I had to be out the end of February. I am so blessed that I have wonderful friends with wonderful guest rooms!! So untill things are settled with the business, were lookin at the end of March, I will be here.

Jim has been working at his new job in L.A. since September, (Ugh! I really miss him, count it 6 months apart). He really enjoys it there and all the new challenges but he too misses home. We are both just so grateful he was given this opportunity.

Sarah and Roni are both also in L.A. Roni is staying with my sister and working in a great salon and Sarah is staying with her sister, Tashia and is working at Olive Garden and going to school. Again we are so grateful for family!! That is really the upside of all of this. And DJ is going to school in Chico.

It's been 19 years since I left L.A. and I really thought I would never go back...in fact that is what I said over and over. Well you know what they say...."Never say Never".  But being close to my sister and her family as well as Sarah's sister is really what is making this all worth while.

I hope to be posting more of my scrapbooking and card making stuff once I get settled again. I taught my last class last week and we were joking that I could start a class on "scrapping for the dis-placed" or "Tailgate Scrapbooking" hahaha.  I said you could use your cigarette lighter to heat emboss or you could lay a piece of cardstock behind your tire and roll over it for a textured background. You know us crafter's...were resourceful!
Well thanks for letting me ramble, (as if you had a choice, LOL). and like I said I will try to post more crafty things soon.

Here's just one little thing since you made it all the way to the end of my ranting! You all really do make my life sparkel!
Have a great day!
